Just had a long conversation with the attorney today for the “non-profit paperwork” being filed….what a brain burner! But still has to be done so everything is fully legit! Help our StrongBone Foundation by Donating here. Everyone thinks starting a non-profit is easy because you only have to have a “vision”…right? No so much. It takes a lot of paperwork and planning and a few others (who should be your Board of Directors) to also believe in the vision and be willing to commit time and effort to the cause. Also, because you handle donations you need to have all the right “tax-exempt” paperwork and stuff in line. So, you will definitely need an attorney at some point to help wrangle all the paperwork and language into place. It is at this point I realized I would need to do this to be fully legit and be able to put this out to the public with passion and pride. It can take several weeks or several months depending on how diligent you are and how available the attorney is as well as how fast you get your paperwork back once everything is properly submitted. You also have to hold an initial “incorporation meeting” with your entire board and the attorney before you can file your official paperwork as well. So, all of this takes time because you have to coordinate everyone. Once this is done you are then able to file your state paperwork and still have to move onto your federal paperwork.
